Transoms such as arches and other irregularly shaped panes of glass are lovely architectural structures that enhance the appearance and appeal of many homes however they are sometimes a nightmare when it comes to selecting the perfect window treatment option.
Most of the times these beautiful architectural panes of glass are unreachable making it impossible to install a manually operated window treatment. If you would like to install a window treatment that can open and close on a regular basis motorizing the window treatment is your best option as this motorized shade could be operated from the simple touch of a remote, smartphone, iPad or a voice command to an Amazon Alexa.
Cellular shades are the most popular type of shades that are used in motorized transoms, arches and other irregularly shaped windows because they allow you to block out the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter. These cellular shades make homes a lot more energy efficient and provide light and glare control when required.
Motorized shades in these irregularly shaped windows can be powered in two ways. The first option is to hard-wire the shade i.e. connect it to a wall plug. The second option is a ‘wirefree’ option where the shade is powered by batteries. With this second option you can use either regular lithium batteries or rechargeable batteries that would need to be charged approximately every 12 months or connected to a solar panel for continuous charging.
